Double Exposure or Spitting Image

I have seen the future and it's a rerun!

Every get that deja who feeling when you're watching TV? It's the feeling that somethign is vaguely familiar (there is no exact English translation for deja vu, so we make do - it's the anglophonic way!). Maybe you get he sense that you've seen one of the young celebs some where before. Well you might well have, in another form. When you take to carefully examining pix of actors you find that they resemble other actors or famous types. Maybe that's part of their unconscious appeal ( the whole appeal of entertainment is largely unconscious). For instance have a look at the following rogue's gallery, and set your faces to stunned!

So Harry Potter looks like John Lennon, but not like Hitler. He's like Lennon without the angry edge - which would be Julian, the child john had by Paul McCartney! RPatz has a slight resemblance to the King. Not so surprising. Might be a good role fort him, now that Kristin Stewart's gone all rock n roll!

Now an example from the world of sci fi. If you've been tuning into V then you might have had the uneasy feeling that you've seen Monica Baccarin's routine somewhere before. Let me show you!

On the top is Jaquelin Pierce from Brit sci fi classic Blake's 7. JP played a homicidal megalomaniac space witch Margret Thatcher parody called Supreme Commander. Baccarin plays a megalomaniac space lizard bent on world domination, and is called Commander. The resemblance is kind of uncanny!

For those unfamiliar with Blake's 7 here are some of the episodes. You'll find that no matter how advance we get technologically, our hair and clothes still suck! Enjoy, space cadets!

V might really have benefited from the addition of a cool starship with teleport capability. As for Blake's 7, If the whole format sounds familiar then think Robin Hood in space, complete with gentle giant Gan as Little John. Of course the Robin Hood in space was already done to perfection, and beyond, by the 1960's Canadian cartoon Rocket Robin Hood. That was a piece of work so trippy that not even Matt Groening on acid couldn't have imagined it!

Wasn't that a treat? The animation might look like something you've already seen. The RRH animator went on to do the 1970's full length feature of The Lord of the Rings. He also did one of the original rock music videos, back before the time of MTV.

So that brings us back to where we started and if not back to the beginning then certainly fool circle. Welcome back!

Be seeing you, probably again and again and again. Maybe in syndication!
