'Milkshake' singer Kelis tries to live a pure life in order to ensure she gets in to heaven.

Kelis lives her life in an attempt to get into heaven.

The religious 31-year-old singer - who has a 22-month-old son Knight with ex-husband Nas - believes in an afterlife and hopes she ends up in a good place when she dies.

She said: "I believe in heaven and hell. I try to live my life according to what I think will get me in to heaven.

There's gotta be an adjustment somewhere, either what we like is adjusted when we get to heaven. Or heaven is an individual thing made just for you.

"I don't know that there's any vocabulary that can express how gorgeous it is. It's probably a little different for everybody.

As part of her strive for virtue, the 'Milkshake' hitmaker is trying to control her temper.

She told Attitude magazine: "Nowadays I feel most ashamed when I lose my temper. I lose it around judgemental people.

"I think it is OK to have an opinion, but I think there's a fine line between opinion and judgement, and it's in how you say it."
