The Golden Compass

I think mr. pullman (the writer of the books) is attacking the way the church used to be, like in the galilean age, when heresy was punishable by death, and what is now known as truth was shunted to retain the church’s power. note I don’t capitalize church here because the manipulative and power-mongering ways of old don’t deserve capitalization.

If you watch this movie from the point of view of a neutral with no idea that there’s religious connotation, then you realize its more of a story of the triumph of free will over submission; not sin over piousness, or the devil over God. And I can guarantee you have all seen movies where an atheist had some creative input.

True Christians would never attack free will, but a bloated, powerful church might use God to do such things as remove free will, like the magisterium wishes.

And Lord Azreal wants to kill the Authority (only passingly alluded to as God, more rather the generic “supreme being”) because it is the only solution he can think up. An extreme solution (probably symbolic) for an extreme problem.

I personally am a Christian and was not offended by this film because I have an open mind, and try to understand things before I ignore them.

And how come you guys that slandered this movie used cursing words? A little hypocritical?

And where’s the allusion to Christ? He’s usually subject of criticism of the Christian faith.

Other than that, pretty good movie, with a few good action scenes and a good message, though perhaps not suitable for children (my only criticism of mr. pullman). That message is not the theme of the story - it is the challenge to think freely, which too few of us do.

Flowers...Dreams...Faith...

It is madness... to hate all roses because you got scratched with one thorn... to give up on your dreams because one didn't come true... to loose faith n prayers because one was not answered... to give up on your efforts because one of them failed... to condemn all your friends because one betrayed you... not to believe in love because someone was unfaithful or didn't love you back... to throw away all your chances to be happy because you didn't succed on the first attempt.

I hope that as you go in your way, you didn't give into madness... remembering always another chance may come up, another friend, a new love, a renewed strength... be persistent!

Look for happiness in everyday. the sure path to failure is to give up.. this is often through failure that future success come. we just need to keep trying.

A Letter from Bebang

Her name is Bebang, a registered nurse in L.A. who brought her mother there for some much-needed medical treatment. Unfortunately, her Nanay did not survive. In order to save from further expenses, however, Bebang decided to stay in LA and just send her deceased mother’s remains back to the Philippines.

Back home, and as soon as the coffin arrived, family members noticed that dead Nanay’s face was fixed tightly on the glass like it was picture-framed. So they opened the coffin in order to re-position the corpse. To their surprise, a letter was stapled on Nanay’s chest. The following was its content:

Nagmamahal,
Bebang

This classic tale was originally seen in an article from Jeanne Tan Te of Sun Star Iloilo, and was taken from Jalex’s blog, which in turn was taken from JC Mae’s blog. I decided to post this since I thoroughly enjoyed reading it a long time ago, and I wanted to share it with those who haven’t read it yet.

heart

" the most interesting thing about heart transplants is that one completely loses his own heart and be replaced with someone else's yet still has the feelings for the same person person he/she loves. this proves that love works in the minds of the people and not in their hearts. bottom line is, love is a state of mind. you'll learn how to forget only if you try doing so..."

World of Warcraft Part 2

I have yet to hear from blizzard. There e-mail reply is slow.
Got the feeling of being pushed away, even though i am a paying customer. Got the feeling of Blizzard said your account is closed and should stay close. Why isn't blizzard taking an in-dept action on this matter? so many people are already affected...not the handful of such cases, right? Something is clearly wrong here.

And yet, yesterday, another of our friends account got compromise and closed. Know what, when i heard that, I laughed and wonder who's next?

Sighs...

World of Warcraft

My account had just been recently banned. I received the generic e-mail so many seem to see regarding the exploitation of the world of warcraft economy, or being associated with the account that was guilty of the said offense.

I was playing the game and suddenly, another player, i assume a GM, pm me and in an instant my account was banned. I can attest to myself that i had in no way violated the terms of use of the game. i had religiously been playing and trying to level up my character.

if i had committed any infractions, they should have warn me or at least have the decency to tell me the reason. not that while you are playing, you suddenly are logged out and sent a notice to check the e-mail. if, assuming i did commit a violation, then this is my "first offense" if you wish to call it that. so a permanent banned and to the rest of the players who had experience the same plight that i had underwent to be quite harsh.

i can understand if a suspension is in order if its deemed appropriate, but for a rule abiding player like me seems to be over the top. if someone could look in to the circumstances, i would really appreciate it.

CIGARETTES and LOVE

As i light a cigarette, i cant help thinking why do i smoke? it doesn't do me good. it burns my lips, hurt my eyes and as i inhale its dark smoke, it brings great pain to my chest and takes me to a state of mind where loneliness and emptiness resides. as i throw its butt, i promised myself that i would never again light another stick. YET its scent haunts me. what the hell! i took out a stick and realized I'm already hooked...

Just like with LOVE...

life

in life we always search for answers because we want to prove ourselves that we had the right decisions but the truth is we can't search for what's not there. things happen because it's meant to happen. that's why we forgive people even if they hurt us, we love people who don't love us and we smile despite every painful crash in our hearts. at the end of the day the lesson you get are the answers to your decisions.

play

Sometime in our life we play with love...
but when the time comes and you finally realize that you want to get serious...

....LOVE...

plays with you...

enigma

it's an enigma when you fall in lobe and accept that some good things never last. suddenly you'll begin to see yourself as nothing. it's an agony to accept that despite the feelings you have, it's all not enough, but when you lobe someone, you would do the hardest thing, and yes it's going to be easy, but at least you know that what you felt was REAL.

in the end, you'll ask yourself, "does it hurt?" then you'll close your eyes and whisper, "yes...but it may be worth it..."

oprah

what Oprah says about men... f a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.. f he doesn't, nothing can make him stay.. never let him know everything.. he'll use it against you later.. he is a man, nothing more, nothing less.. u should never look for someone to complete you, a relationship consist of two whole individual.. make him miss you sometimes, when a man always know where you are and know that you're readily available, he'll take it for granted.. they say it takes a minute 2 find a special one, an hour to appreciate, a day to love and entire lifetime to forget...
