John Malkovich was in Prague to perform in 'Infernal Comedy' at the Prague Spring Music Festival.

Being John Malkovich didn't turn out to be quite as fun at the eponymous 1999 movie on Friday after the actor discovered his hotel room in Prague had been robbed.

Malkovich, 57, was in the Czech capital to star in "Infernal Comedy," in which he plays an Austrian serial killer, at the Prague Spring Music Festival on Thursday. He was due to fly to Poland the next day, but the burglary forced him to re-schedule his trip.

"We can confirm than an investigation is under way in the case of the disappearance of Mr. Malkovich's personal belongings," said a spokeswoman for the Mandarin Oriental hotel.

According to news website www.idnes.cz, the festival's director said the thief took two mobile phones.

The actor starred in the Charlie Kaufman film "Being John Malkovich," in which a puppeteer finds a passage into the mind of Malkovich. He was nominated for best supporting actor Oscar for "In the Line of Fire" and "Places in the Heart."
